The Gregorian Etruscan Museum was founded in 1837 by Pope Gregory XVI to collect all the archaeological finds from the excavations carried out at that time in the territories of Southern Etruria, present Northern Lazio, who were part of the Papal States. When these territories were annexed to the Italian Republic the collection was interrupted, but the museum has continued to grow thanks to donations and purchases. Particular mention donations of family Guglielmi in 1935 and 1987, the Falcioni collection in 1898 and of Mario Astarita in 1967. The halls of the Gregorian Etruscan Museum, as many as 22, are located inside the Palace of Innocent VIII in which you can also admire the beautiful frescoes by Federico Barocci, Federico Zuccari and Pomarancio. The exhibits are dated between the ninth and the first century BC, among them there are numerous votive statues, everyday pottery, jewelery, tombstones, objects and bronze sculptures, paintings, vases, stone carvings, ornamental pottery and votive .
