The arena presented a pavement in part in masonry and partly in wood, but for the fighting was covered by sand. Underneath the arena were underground various service areas were built for centuries and that, for the most part, have retained their original structure. Here the animals' cages were kept in the shows, the sets and stage equipment. The underground were divided into 12 curved corridors divided in the middle by a large central hall.
